🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian observer in Gregory, Texas reported an unidentified object resembling a kite with multicolored features, including black, orange, red, and yellow. The object remained in the same location for over two and a half hours, occasionally appearing to ascend or spin. Observed with binoculars, it had a yellow light on top and was described in detail. Initially thought to be Venus, the possibility of a weather balloon launched near the time of the sighting was also considered.
The report includes detailed weather data and an assessment from the officer of the day, who suggested the object might have been the balloon. However, the unusual behavior, such as its stationary nature and color changes, did not match typical balloon characteristics. The case was closed without a definitive conclusion, but with a tentative astronomical explanation.
