🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1965, a civilian in Waldport, Oregon, reported seeing a luminous object moving erratically across the sky. The object was described as a bright star moving in a broken path, varying in intensity. The observation lasted about 15 seconds, during which the object moved through approximately 5 degrees of arc. The U.S. Air Force responded to the report, requesting additional data for a more precise evaluation. Although initially considered as a satellite, the lack of detailed information led to a request for a supplementary form to confirm the nature of the phenomenon.
The case was temporarily archived, and the witness was asked to complete a form to provide more details. The official response noted that the description was similar to other satellite reports, but the brevity of the observation and the lack of data such as exact direction made a clear identification difficult. Despite the absence of physical evidence or photographs, the report reflected the rigorous methodology of the Air Force in assessing unexplained aerial phenomena. This document illustrates how UFO reports were handled in the 1960s, with a technical approach and a request for more information to rule out conventional explanations.
