Summary

In August 1965, a witness in Proctor, Minnesota, reported a bright object in the sky resembling a star. The object was described as reddish-green and white, and it was noted to flicker. It remained stationary in the sky for several minutes, drawing the attention of the observer. The weather conditions were clear with visibility of 15 miles, and there were no storms in the area. An Air Force officer was sent to investigate, and upon arrival, two observers confirmed the presence of a bright object in the same location as the reported one. However, no photographs were taken, and no physical evidence was found.

The official evaluation concluded that the phenomenon could be explained as a refraction of the star Antares. Although the observers confirmed the presence of the object, no sounds or exhaust trails were recorded. The report noted that there was no known air traffic in the area at that time, and the object showed no movement. Ultimately, it was considered that the object was likely a star or planet, and not an unexplained phenomenon.
