UFO Sighting in Ottawa Illinois 1965

Summary

A man in Ottawa, Illinois, reported an unidentified flying object in August 1965. The object was observed for 15 seconds and was moving horizontally at an elevation of 10 to 15 degrees. Although initially thought to possibly be a satellite, later analysis concluded it was a meteor. The duration of the sighting and the object's trajectory did not match the typical characteristics of satellites, which usually move more slowly and have an easterly component in their direction.
