Summary

In August 1965, a witness in Shallop Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, observed a bright object passing directly over his home. The object, brighter than stars but not as bright as the morning star, moved in a straight line at an extremely high altitude. The sighting lasted three minutes and was confirmed by seven members of his family. Despite partly cloudy conditions, the object showed no tail or sound, making it different from any known aircraft. The Canadian Air Force reviewed available data, including satellites and weather balloons, but found no conventional explanations.

The official report concluded that the object was not a known satellite or aircraft in the area. The possibility of an optical illusion or other unexplained phenomenon was considered. Interestingly, the witness had seen a similar object 48 hours earlier, suggesting a recurring presence. Although conventional explanations were ruled out, the report did not reach a definitive conclusion, leaving open the possibility that it was an unknown orbital object or an uncategorized phenomenon.
