🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1965, a civilian in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, reported seeing an object in the sky resembling a star. The object was observed near the North Star and moved northeast over five minutes. Although initially considered a possible unidentified aerial phenomenon, further analysis pointed to a more conventional explanation.
The official conclusion was that the observed object was the satellite Echo II, which was passing over the area at an elevation of 67 degrees. The satellite, known for its star-like brightness, matched the witness's description. Although the report does not mention physical evidence or photographs, the analysis based on satellite schedules and astronomical calculations supported the identification. This case is an example of how UFO reports often align with natural or technological events that can be explained.
