🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1965, a witness in Montana reported a bright, stationary object in the sky at dusk. The phenomenon was described as a silver or white light that remained motionless for 30 minutes. It was estimated to be at around 4,000 feet, with a size similar to a kite. Although initially thought to be a star, this possibility was dismissed due to its position and behavior. The report, classified under Project 10073, was reviewed by several Air Force units, including the 9th Aerospace Defense Division.
The report did not reach a clear conclusion about the nature of the object, but it noted that it did not exhibit characteristics of an aircraft or meteorite. It mentioned that the star V171A was near the observed location, though it was not considered a definitive explanation. The document includes meteorological data and other technical details, but no other sightings were recorded in the area. The case remains unresolved, and the unidentified object continues to be a mystery in Air Force archives.
