🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1965, several witnesses in Indianapolis, Indiana, reported a bright red object with approximately ten lights. The phenomenon was observed for 25 minutes, with the object moving north, pausing briefly, and then disappearing. Initially considered a possible artificial satellite, the evaluation remained tentative until more data could be received. The report originated from a phone call by a woman with limited English, who was informed by an officer about possible identifications, including the Echo and Pegasus satellites.
The report includes detailed information on sky conditions, witness locations, and object descriptions. Despite no physical evidence or photographs, the visual testimony was clear enough to generate a formal record. The Air Force concluded that while not definitively identified, the case was consistent with known satellite observations of the time. Such records help understand how UFO sightings were handled in the 1960s, with a technical yet open-minded approach.
