🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1965, a student from Brooklyn College reported a UFO near Stewart Air Force Base in New York. The observer, using an Imperial Mark II camera, described a bright object that appeared to perform a shallow dive followed by a climbing turn toward the southwest. Although the witness was uncertain about the exact azimuth due to the winding road, he estimated the object was visible for about a minute.
The Air Force concluded that the object could have been a balloon, possibly a "pilot" type, launched from a local base. The apparent high speed was likely due to the object's proximity to the observer, creating an optical illusion. Additionally, the balloon's transparency could explain its rapid disappearance as the angle of sunlight changed. The report includes photographs and photo analysis, but no conclusive physical evidence was found. The case was closed without further investigation, and the observer was returned copies of the images taken.
