Sighting of a bullet-shaped UFO near Lugo in 1969

Summary

In April 1969, a witness on the Madrid-Ferrol highway observed an unusual object shaped like a bullet, approximately 5 to 6 meters long and 2 meters in diameter. He described its surface as made of colorful, shiny scales with an unusual glow. The object was stationary close to the ground, leading the witness to speculate it might be a piloted spacecraft. However, when he stopped to observe it more closely, the object had vanished, prompting investigators to consider earthly explanations.

The Air Force analyzed the case and suggested the disappearance could be due to loss of sight from the hilly terrain or changes in sunlight reflection. Although the witness mentioned a rapid ascent, this explanation lacked evidence. The area, rich in reflective granite rocks, also supported the possibility of an optical illusion. The case was eventually declassified without definitive conclusions.
