🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1965, a civilian in Cloverdale, Ohio, reported a UFO that appeared in the west, about 15 degrees from the horizon. The witness described it as larger than Venus, orange in color, and with unusual behavior: it moved briefly north before stopping, twinkled slightly, and then vanished. No maneuvers or sounds were reported. The Air Force concluded it was likely Venus, which was setting with a noticeable brightness. However, the witness's account suggests a visual experience that didn't match expectations for a planet.
The official report, part of Project Blue Book, found no physical evidence or photos, but it does include the visual description. The attached letter shows the civilian's interest in learning more about unidentified objects and the Air Force museum's public hours. Although an extraterrestrial explanation was ruled out, the testimony reflects the curiosity and mystery surrounding sightings at the time.
