🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1965, multiple observations of a comet were recorded in the Northern Hemisphere. This comet, identified as Ikeya-Seki, was photographed from various observatories and by amateur astronomers. The images captured details such as the comet's tail, which at certain points reached a length of 17 degrees. The records include long-exposure shots that revealed the comet's structure, with curved and bright tails. Initially, it was difficult to observe due to its proximity to the sun, but over time clear images were captured. The comet was visible both with telescopes and to the naked eye under favorable conditions. In addition to the photographs, spectral data was obtained, helping to better understand its composition.
