Summary

In October 1965, a military pilot in the Pacific reported seeing an object emitting flashes every 20 seconds. The aircraft was at an altitude of 43,999 feet, and the object appeared directly over the nose of the plane, at the 12 o'clock position. Although observers could not locate the object on radar, they concluded it might be a photographic aircraft or satellite. The speed and frequency of the flashes suggested a photographic mission, though no photos were taken and no physical evidence was found.

The sighting lasted 40 seconds, and the object had no defined course. Despite the inability to confirm its identity with radar, officials considered the most plausible explanation to be an aircraft conducting mapping or reconnaissance. However, the fact that the object was not registered on radar and its unusual speed generated some uncertainty. As with many cases from that era, this one was filed without a definitive resolution.
