🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A white object with a red trail was observed in Sunnyvale, California, on October 15, 1965. The witness described it as a white ball moving in a straight line from the northwest to the southeast. The observation lasted between 15 and 20 seconds. Initially, the possibility of a meteor was considered, but the report also examined the chance of a jet aircraft. However, since no sound was reported, it was more likely a meteor. At the time of the sighting, there was significant aerial activity in the area, with several military and civilian aircraft operating. Despite the number of aircraft present, no photographic reports were received.
This case, though brief, highlights the complexity of interpreting unidentified aerial observations. The lack of physical evidence and reliance on visual estimates make definitive conclusions difficult. However, the official report classifies it as a meteor, a plausible explanation that does not rule out the need for continued vigilance in similar cases.
