🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An observer in Caracas, Venezuela, reported a spherical object with a red-orange glow that appeared to be flaming. The object had a small tail, about one-third the diameter of the main body. It moved silently in a steady course westward before turning north. The sighting lasted about 40 seconds, but the observer lost sight of the object due to buildings blocking the view. There were no aircraft in the area and no physical evidence was found. The description suggested a rocket-like appearance with an afterburner, though it was never confirmed.
The classified report by the U.S. Air Force concluded there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation. It noted that the object did not appear to be a conventional aircraft and left no physical traces. The observer, a U.S. Army officer, provided detailed information, but the phenomenon could not be identified. The exact location was recorded as the Chacao section near La Carlotta, on a clear night with favorable weather conditions.
