🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1966, an observer at Condon AFS in Oregon reported two unidentified flying objects. These appeared as stacked blue pinpoints moving at an excessive speed northeastward. The sighting lasted about one and a half minutes, and although no physical evidence or photographs were taken, it was concluded that the objects were likely the satellite Echo II. The observation was made from the ground using binoculars, adding credibility to the report.
The case, classified under project 10073, was distributed to several military units for analysis. Despite the unusual speed of the objects, conventional explanations like aircraft or meteors were dismissed. The location and behavior of the phenomenon led investigators to consider it a satellite, though no official confirmation was given. This case exemplifies how UFO sightings were treated with seriousness during the Cold War, with a technical approach and strict protocols.
