UFO sighted over Fort Jackson in 1966

Summary

In March 1966, several witnesses in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, reported the sighting of an unidentified object. The phenomenon occurred at three different times: first at dusk, then during the night, and finally at dawn. The object, described as oval and about two meters in diameter, moved slowly and at times appeared to follow a truck. Although initially thought to be related to the presence of RF4C aircraft in the area, the other sightings remain unexplained.

The observers included several trainees and a responsible sergeant of the Guard. There was no physical evidence or photographs of the incident. Weather conditions were normal, with clear skies and unlimited visibility. Although the presence of aircraft in the nearby restricted area was ruled out, the mystery of the object remains unsolved. This case is part of the many UFO reports analyzed during the 1960s.
