🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in San Francisco, California, reported a bright and spherical object in March 1966. The phenomenon was observed for between 10 and 30 seconds, moving along a WNW to ESE trajectory. The object started with a size and brightness similar to Venus and ended brighter than a full moon. Its light blinked irregularly, like a plane on fire with the flame momentarily extinguished. The report concluded it could be a decaying satellite, though no specific object was identified due to the large amount of space debris.
The testimony was officially recorded and SPADATS was contacted for information on decaying objects. However, due to the large time span considered, no specific satellite could be associated with the sighting. The report mentions the object did not explode but disappeared from the sky with an intermittent glow, possibly shedding small objects. This case remains classified as an unidentified phenomenon.
