🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1966, a mailman in Freeport, Long Island, reported seeing an unidentified flying object. The incident occurred at 24:45 on March 29, when the witness, looking out of his apartment window, observed a luminous object in the sky. He described red and blue flashes and a glow coming from the object's base. Although it was far away, the mailman noticed it moving slowly before suddenly disappearing. The Air Force documented the sighting as part of its investigation into unexplained aerial phenomena.
The official report includes weather data and notes on other sightings in the area. An intelligence officer from the 52nd Fighter Group at Suffolk County Air Force Base, New York, mentioned that a recent wave of UFO reports might have prompted this one. Despite detailed descriptions, no conventional explanation was found for the event, and the case was marked as unresolved. These types of reports help understand how military authorities handled sightings in the 1960s.
