🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1966, a civilian in Arvada, Colorado, reported an object that appeared like a rocket or UFO. The object showed up as a red light moving slowly eastward at high altitude. Its appearance caused over 100 calls to the police and local media. Eventually, a patrolman recovered it in a churchyard, where it was confirmed to be a plastic balloon with a flare attached. The balloon, about eight feet in diameter, was made of material similar to garment bags and attached to a flat base with wire mesh.
The police concluded it was a prank balloon, but the case was officially documented by air authorities. This incident occurred amid multiple UFO sightings in the Denver area, causing significant concern and curiosity. Although the object was not extraterrestrial, its clever design made it a curious case in UFO history.
