🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1966, two witnesses in Lake Carmel, New York, observed several unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in the sky. The objects displayed colors ranging from yellow, red, blue, and green, and one appeared to have a dome on its upper surface emitting a greenish glow. Some of these objects emitted a high-pitched whine and disappeared suddenly, one at a time. The witnesses reported that the objects appeared over several days, from March 31 to April 25, and some sightings coincided with identified aircraft in the area. Although natural phenomena or astronomical bodies were considered, investigators concluded that the most likely explanation was hallucination on the part of the witnesses.
The observers used binoculars for part of the time and reported that the objects varied in size, from the size of a pinhead to a doorknob. Some had erratic, zigzag movements, while others remained stationary. The total duration of the observations was two and a half hours. A U.S. Air Force technical report concluded that while some objects could have been aircraft, it was insufficient to explain all sightings. The case was filed without a definitive explanation.
