🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1966, a woman from Sacramento contacted air authorities after spotting a red object the size of a basketball. The phenomenon was observed above Fair Oaks, near Sunrise Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard, at an elevation of about 45 degrees above the horizon. The witness described how the object remained stationary for two minutes before extinguishing like a candle. Although there were no other witnesses, the report requested further details about her location and experience. The object was described as having a rim that appeared to be on fire, making it stand out in the twilight sky.
The woman completed a detailed questionnaire for Project Blue Book, where weather conditions were recorded as cloudy with 15 miles visibility. Despite the clear description, there was no physical evidence or confirmation of other sightings. The report could not reach a conclusive evaluation, and the witness was asked to provide more information. This case, like many others, remains unsolved but contributes to the extensive UFO investigation archives of the time.
