UFO in Houston with five witnesses

Summary

In May 1966, five people in Houston, Texas, observed an unidentified flying object. The object had green lights on top and bottom, which occasionally changed to green. It was estimated to be a quarter of a mile away and appeared to move back and forth, always returning to the same location. After an hour, the object made an ascending and easterly movement before disappearing. Witnesses saw it through binoculars and noted it split into bright lights described as "dripping lights".

The investigation concluded it was likely an optical illusion caused by ground light reflections off an inversion layer. The layer rose with the sun, making the object appear to ascend. The object's disappearance was explained by the inversion layer dissipating or moving over the water east of Houston. Although no photos were taken, the witnesses' consistent descriptions add credibility to the sighting.
