🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A couple in Akron, Ohio, reported a mysterious light in the night sky on June 25, 1966. While driving, they noticed red, white, and green lights resembling an aircraft landing. However, since no airport was near their location, they were surprised when the object didn’t descend. The object moved slowly and silently, maintaining the same size in their rear window, suggesting it was traveling at the same speed as their car. Described as doughnut-shaped with multicolored lights, it generated confusion and curiosity.
After investigation, officials confirmed the Goodyear Blimp was operating in the area that night. Equipped with standard running lights and a 100-foot-long advertising banner, the blimp perfectly matched the witnesses’ description. The confusion arose from the rarity of seeing a blimp at night and its slow movement, which made it seem unusual. Ultimately, the report concluded the sighting had no connection to unexplained phenomena but was instead an unusual nighttime advertising campaign.
