🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1966, a civilian in Ilion, New York, reported an unusual aerial phenomenon observed during several hours of the early morning. The report details how the witness and a friend saw a reddish light in the sky, moving in unexpected ways. The light made sharp turns and sudden directional changes, even reversing its course abruptly. Through binoculars, it appeared as a luminous object of indeterminate shape, moving silently at high altitude. On different occasions, the light disappeared behind clouds or vanished suddenly, adding mystery to the observation.
The report includes precise details such as the observer's exact location, the exact times of appearances, and a comparison with aircraft refueling operations in the area at that time. Although contact was made with nearby air bases to rule out the possibility of aircraft on refueling missions, no match was found with the described events. This suggests the observed object was non-conventional. The testimony, though brief, is detailed and consistent, making it an interesting case in the history of UFO sightings in the United States.
