Cigar-Shaped UFO Over New Mexico

In July 1966, a witness in Clovis, New Mexico, observed a cigar-shaped object flying at high altitude. The object, described as red and white like flames, had an incandescent exhaust five times longer than its body. The observer, an Air Force aircraft mechanic, saw the object for one minute as it moved from southwest to northeast. Initially unexplained, investigators later concluded it could have been a high-flying aircraft seen from the ground.

The object's description and trajectory prompted a formal Air Force investigation. Controllers and radar operators were asked to check for unusual activity around the time of the sighting. Although no concrete explanations were found, investigators noted that negative responses were also valuable.
