🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1966, an observer at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico reported a star-like object moving toward the southeast. The object was seen for about three minutes and displayed unusual behavior: it initially moved slowly, then sped up, and swerved left and right before stabilizing. Although it was initially thought to be a satellite like the Echo II, the description and trajectory didn't fully match. The official report classified it as a satellite, but the observer's account suggests uncertainty about what was seen.
The lack of physical or photographic evidence complicated the investigation. Military personnel noted no missile firings or other events that could explain the sighting. Despite the inquiry, the object remained unidentified. This case exemplifies how UFO reports, even from military observers, can be challenging to explain with conventional data.
