🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1966, two witnesses in Lebanon, Oregon, reported a star-like object moving erratically in the night sky. The object appeared in the northeast and slowly drifted eastward, maintaining a brightness similar to the North Star. One of the observers, an Air Force sergeant, watched it for over an hour and contacted the Space Detection and Tracking Center to rule out the possibility of it being a satellite. Despite his efforts, the object was not detected on radar, leading to the theory that it might be a star whose apparent movement was caused by a temperature inversion. The official conclusion pointed to the star Capella as a possible explanation.
