🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Manhattan, New York, reported a spherical object with an orange glow falling straight downward on July 30, 1966. The object was visible for about 30 seconds before disappearing behind buildings. Although initially intriguing, the official conclusion was that it was a flare. The report notes the object lacked the typical arc of a meteor and was observed by an actor interested in astronomy from his apartment rooftop. Weather conditions were clear with some haze, and there was no physical evidence or photographs of the event.
The investigation included atmospheric wind analysis, but no military aircraft were in the area. Ultimately, the phenomenon was confirmed to be unrelated to UFOs, linked instead to a routine helicopter rescue operation.
