🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1966, an observer in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, reported seeing an object moving northward. The object, observed for 30 minutes, exhibited unusual movements such as stopping and resuming its path, and turning left before disappearing. Although initially puzzling, further investigation revealed it was a weather balloon launched by the local weather bureau. Such launches are common for gathering atmospheric data, and in this case, the balloon followed a typical ascent and northerly trajectory. The match between the recorded launch and the observer's description confirmed the non-UFO nature of the event.
