🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1966, two witnesses in Duluth, Minnesota, reported seeing a white point of light moving northeast. The object was observed near the zenith and disappeared after five minutes. The Air Force identified it as the ECHO II satellite, which was in the area at the time. Despite the official explanation, the report mentions a possible thermal inversion and other atmospheric phenomena that could have contributed to the sighting. The report notes that the object was not a balloon or aircraft, leaving open the possibility of a satellite or unusual phenomenon.
The officer who prepared the report indicated that low objects were round or oval, while high ones appeared as white points. This fit the observation but did not fully explain the nature of the phenomenon. Although no physical evidence was found, the report concluded that the ECHO II satellite was the most plausible explanation. However, the mystery of the sighting remains intriguing for UFO researchers.
