🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1966, a boy in Dalton, Kentucky, observed an unidentified flying object he described as a "giant washtub." The testimony reached local authorities and was later sent to the Air Force's Project Blue Book. The boy, on a rural road, heard a sound between a plane and a jet, then looked up to see a silver object with a reddish glow at the rear. The object rapidly moved eastward and disappeared within seconds. Although the boy was shaken, the analysis concluded it could have been a jet aircraft with an afterburner. The lack of physical or photographic evidence made further evaluation difficult, but the description matched conventional aerial objects.
The Air Force requested more information via a detailed questionnaire, but no new data was obtained. The case was closed with the conclusion that it was likely a jet. This incident highlights the complexity of UFO sightings, where subjective perception and lack of objective evidence can lead to varied interpretations.
