A UAP sighting in Abilene in 1966

Summary

In September 1966, a 17-year-old gas station attendant in Abilene, Texas, reported an unidentified flying object. According to his account, the object appeared as a white point with a hint of red, moving in unexpected ways. Sometimes it remained still, other times it moved rapidly from one place to another, and eventually seemed to fade without disappearing entirely. The sighting lasted for one full hour, and although local authorities, including the FAA, weather service, and local radio, were contacted, no clear explanation was found.

The official Air Force report concluded that the data was insufficient for a precise evaluation. The witness was asked to complete an additional form, but no further information was obtained. The weather was clear with light winds and excellent visibility, which should have made the observation clearer. Despite the investigation, no physical evidence or additional testimonies were found to help identify the object. The case remains unsolved, like so many from that era.
