🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
On October 7, 1966, a witness in Greenville, Ohio reported a bright yellow object in the sky that appeared very close and emitted colored lights such as pinkish-red and bluish-green. The object remained visible and stationary during observation. The report concluded it was likely Sirius, a bright star. The observer compared the light to a police car beacon and noted that through binoculars, it resembled a diamond hit by a spotlight.
Dr. J. Allen Hynek asked the witness to observe Sirius the next day for comparison. The next morning, the observer confirmed that Sirius looked identical to the object seen. Despite the astronomical explanation, the witness, an attorney with experience in night observation, expressed doubts. He could not explain certain aspects, like the object's movement, and noted that even with binoculars and artillery experience, he couldn't rule out an unidentified phenomenon.
