🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1966, a woman in Newburgh, New York, observed a silver cylindrical object reflecting sunlight. The object was seen for about 30 seconds as it flew parallel to the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge over the Hudson River. Although the observer described it as a short cigar, the investigation concluded it was likely a C-124 aircraft, given the usual air traffic in the area. The observer had poor eyesight and was not wearing glasses during the sighting, which could have affected her perception.
The area had high air traffic, with numerous flights using the bridge as a reference. Witnesses at the bridge confirmed heavy air traffic but no unusual sightings. Despite the detailed description of the object, meteorological analyses and the location of the sighting supported the conventional explanation. The lack of physical evidence and the ambiguity in the observer's description led to the conclusion that it was not an unexplained phenomenon.
