🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An observer at Shemya AFS, Alaska, reported a mysterious object that remained mostly stationary but changed colors every two seconds, shifting from red to green and then to white. The object appeared to move in a square pattern, alternating directions and moving up and down. Observers watched it for 30 minutes, and although a Navy aircraft was sent to investigate, nothing unusual was found. Interestingly, the next evening, another observer saw a similar phenomenon while looking at a planet, leading investigators to conclude it might be an astronomical observation.
The report details that the object was the size of a light bulb seen through a window and moved slowly and deliberately. Observers used binoculars and the naked eye, and the object disappeared behind clouds. Despite efforts to locate it, there was no physical or photographic evidence. The object's description and behavior generated some controversy, but without conventional explanations, an astronomical interpretation was chosen.
