In October 1966, two witnesses in Center Moriches, Long Island, observed a star-like object that continuously changed colors. The object remained visible for 10 to 15 minutes, even after the witnesses left the area. Initially, they thought it was a bright star, but the changing colors made them question what they were seeing. Three nights later, when questioned, one of the witnesses pointed to the star Capella, stating it was similar to the object they had seen.
Capella was at a 12-degree elevation with an azimuth of 35 degrees. Although no photos or physical evidence were collected, the witnesses confirmed the object had no tail, noise, or aircraft-like features. This case, while seemingly simple, illustrates how celestial objects can cause confusion and lead to reports of unexplained phenomena.
