🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1945, two witnesses in Cloverdale, Ohio, observed a bright object in the western sky, about 15 degrees above the horizon. The object, orange in color and slightly larger than Venus, twinkled and then disappeared. Although it moved briefly northward, it soon stopped. The description matched that of the planet Venus, which was setting at the time. The Air Force concluded there was no physical evidence of an extraterrestrial craft.
The Air Force responded with a letter explaining the phenomenon was likely Venus. A Blue Book project brochure was also attached, noting no evidence of interplanetary vehicles had been found. The official report, though brief, shows how sightings were handled back then, with an astronomical focus and no dismissal of natural explanations.
