🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in New York observed an elongated object with red and white lights while driving on Palisades Parkway in February 1967. The object, which appeared to have dimly lit portholes with a pale white glow, moved in a straight line for about 10 seconds before disappearing behind some trees. Although no photos or physical evidence were collected, analysts concluded it was likely a commercial aircraft. The proximity to La Guardia and Kennedy airports supports this explanation. The witness, an adult woman, described the lights and movement with precision, adding credibility to her account.
The report notes that the object showed no visible exhaust or trail, and the observer heard no sound due to the car's windows and radio. Despite clear and cold weather conditions, there was no unusual meteorological activity or phenomena that could explain the sighting. The responsible officer, a USAF captain, considered the light pattern and straight trajectory consistent with a multi-enclosed airliner taking off. While the possibility of an unidentified object was not ruled out, the most probable explanation points to a civilian aircraft.
