🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1967, a civilian in Winston Salem, North Carolina, observed an object described as a yellow-orange, grapefruit-sized object. The object remained stationary for a few minutes, made a 170-degree arc turn, and then suddenly disappeared. The observation lasted about 8 minutes, and the witness did not take photos or collect physical evidence. The Air Force concluded it was a hot air balloon, possibly affected by unusual weather conditions. Despite the official explanation, the detailed description and the observer's account generated some curiosity.
The report includes detailed weather data and an evaluation by a UFO investigation officer. The possibility of a rotating beacon in the area causing the sighting was ruled out due to visibility conditions. Ultimately, it was concluded that the object was a high-altitude weather balloon, which explained its behavior and sudden disappearance.
