Summary

In March 1967, a U.S. Coast Guard officer in Manistee, Michigan, observed a round object in the sky over Lake Michigan. The object, about the size of a half-dollar coin, displayed white, red, and green colors. Though stationary for 15 to 20 minutes, it slowly faded. Observers used binoculars, and no physical evidence or photographs were recorded. A strong temperature inversion was noted at the time.

The official conclusion attributed the sighting to Venus. Astronomical data showed Venus was in a position matching the object's direction. However, the unusual description of colors and shape sparked some curiosity. Although no movement or sound was reported, the object's gradual fading suggested an unusual atmospheric or optical phenomenon.
