🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1967, a U.S. Air Force officer reported a bright object near Traverse City, Michigan. The report notes that the object appeared about 5 degrees above the horizon, remained nearly motionless for 30 minutes, and then disappeared below the horizon. The witness used binoculars to observe it, and the report includes details such as direction (277 degrees) and weather conditions, including a temperature inversion that could have affected visibility.
The report also includes statements from meteorologists and local authorities, who confirmed there were no aircraft or weather balloons in the area. Despite unusual weather conditions, no clear explanation was found for the phenomenon. The responsible officer concluded that the temperature inversion might have been the cause of the sighting, although the possibility of an unidentified object was not ruled out.
