🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1967, two observers in Westmont, Illinois, reported a reddish, fuzzy object slowly moving eastward. The phenomenon lasted about 10 minutes, with no sound emitted at any time. The witnesses compared it to a small flame traveling across the sky. Although initially considered a non-airborne object, the report concluded it was likely a hot air balloon. The wind direction at the time matched the observed movement, and homemade balloons using materials like dry-cleaning tags and candles were noted as plausible explanations for the dim, blurry appearance.
