In 1967, a witness in Fairborn, Ohio, reported seeing a bright red light near the horizon on an overcast night. The object remained stationary and made no noise. Although other explanations such as high-rise warning lights due to nearby air traffic were considered, the observer did not remember making the official report. When the contents of the report were read to her, she insisted she had seen many similar lights and could not recall the specific one. This case illustrates the difficulty of verifying reports of unidentified aerial phenomena, especially when witnesses do not remember details accurately.
