🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1967, multiple witnesses in Washington, D.C., reported seeing a red, round object flashing overhead in the Georgetown area. The phenomenon was observed by several people, including a local police officer. Although initially considered a UFO, further investigations suggested a more mundane explanation. Reports indicated the object might have been a balloon with a light attached, possibly launched as a prank. The lack of physical evidence and the inability to confirm the presence of an unidentified aerial object led investigators to conclude it was a common balloon.
Air and military authorities reviewed data, including radar and testimonies, but found no evidence of an unidentified object. A police officer confirmed the object appeared as a bright red light, with no tail or sound, and disappeared suddenly. Despite initial doubts, the official conclusion pointed to a balloon with light, closing the case without further investigations. This incident reflects how unexplained aerial phenomena often have simple explanations once more information is gathered.
