Summary

In September 1967, a witness in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, observed a very bright light that appeared to follow a satellite across the sky. While watching the satellite, they noticed the light, initially on the horizon, rising vertically and quickly approaching. At the midpoint of its path, the light suddenly dimmed and disappeared along with the satellite. The witness described the change as fast as a snap of the fingers, suggesting an unusual speed.

The Air Force responded to the report in 1968, explaining they couldn't investigate due to a lack of essential data such as angular velocity or weather conditions. The case was classified as "insufficient for evaluation," as the sighting was reported almost five years after it occurred. Although no concrete explanation was reached, the account remains an example of how observers try to make sense of unexplained aerial phenomena.
