🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
This declassified document presents a series of unidentified object sightings that occurred in 1967 over Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The main events took place on October 6 and extended to other dates, including November 8 and 9. On those nights, witnesses and radar systems detected stationary or unusual-moving objects over the ocean. Observers reported colored lights and shapes similar to those of an aircraft, while radars recorded multiple targets with strong signals and behaviors inconsistent with conventional objects.
Weather conditions, such as a thermal inversion, favored optical and anomalous propagation phenomena, leading investigators to consider natural explanations like birds or mirages. However, despite the tests conducted and data collected, the targets were not conclusively identified. Deployed fighter jets failed to intercept them, and radars showed interference and difficulties in correlating targets between different stations. Although conventional objects were ruled out, the report acknowledges that the possibility of unusual phenomena cannot be completely dismissed.
