🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1967, at Blytheville Air Force Base, Arkansas, four witnesses observed a luminous phenomenon that initially appeared to be the exhaust of a jet. During the last third of the observation time, two lights were noted, suggesting the object might be splitting into two parts. A ground observer estimated the object to be between 300 and 400 feet in altitude and moving westward. The local control tower confirmed the presence of a target on the radar screen, but could not clearly identify it as a UFO.
Investigators concluded that the phenomenon could be a meteorite entering the atmosphere and breaking into two fragments. These fragments traveled southwest and were visible for about 15 seconds. Although initially considered a possible UFO, subsequent analysis and testimonies from three Delta Airlines crews pointed to a natural explanation. However, the lack of clear images or physical evidence left open the possibility that the event had an unknown origin.
