🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1967, a high school student in Aiken, South Carolina, observed three red, oval-shaped objects with flashing lights. The sighting lasted about 23 minutes and was witnessed by three people, including the observer and his parents. Although the observer used binoculars at times, he could not precisely determine the direction or altitude of the objects, which seemed to move without a clear pattern. The official report concluded that the objects were likely conventional jet fighters conducting night missions in the area. However, the observer did not provide additional information such as his home phone number or one of his parents' names, raising doubts about the reliability of his testimony.
Shaw AFB confirmed they had night operations in the region, supporting the hypothesis that the objects were conventional aircraft. Despite this, the official report notes that the observer was reluctant to provide further details, limiting the evaluation. The case was classified as "likely aircraft," but doubts about the nature of the sighting were not entirely dismissed. The report also mentions there was no physical evidence or conclusive photographs, making a deeper analysis difficult.
