Summary

Two bright blue-white lights were observed near Columbus, Ohio, in January 1968. Witnesses reported that the objects had the ability to hover and move at extreme speeds. The observation lasted about 30 minutes, and the objects disappeared to the southeast. During the incident, there was a deep temperature inversion and two KC-135 aircraft were conducting instrument approaches at Lockbourne Airport. Despite investigations, neither the control tower nor the KC-135 crews reported seeing anything unusual. The report concluded that the most probable explanation was of an aeronautical origin, though other possibilities were not ruled out.

The description of the objects as bright lights with unusual movement generated interest, especially due to their ability to remain stationary and then accelerate suddenly. Witnesses emphasized the impossibility of identifying the objects with conventional phenomena, leading to a careful evaluation by military authorities. Although no physical evidence was found, the report suggested that weather conditions might have influenced the witnesses' perception.
